Hi everyone! My name is Abby Blocker and I've decided to start a blog to document my future travels. I will be traveling to Cape Town, South Africa to attend the University of Cape Town for my Masters and Ph.D. I am set to leave in February of 2022! I will be studying biomedical engineering and health innovation. I hope to eventually work in the medical technology field, with focus on making these products available and accessible for all.
To fund my studies and travels, the Rotary International Foundation has generously provided me with a Rotary Global Scholar Grant. This will allow me to study up to four years, fully funded! It also means that I get a team of Rotarians to help
me both at home and abroad. Originally, I'm from Inverness, Florida, but currently, I live in Tampa, Florida. Throughout my application process and grant acceptance, I've been able to meet tons of awesome Rotarians in central Florida! I've also started working with my host club in South Africa, the Rotary Club of Claremont. Everyone has been so helpful and kind!
Right now there isn't much to share yet, but in a short three months, the adventure will begin! For now, I'll end by saying thank you for joining me on this journey, and look forward to some exciting posts!
